ITA Airways will resume flights to Israel from 1 March, with services set to increase throughout the summer 2024 season.
The Italian carrier will initially operate three flights per week between Rome Fiumicino and Tel Aviv Ben Gurion, with flight frequencies expected to increase throughout the summer “according to the evolution of the geopolitical scenario”, the carrier said.
From 1 to 31 March, the restarted service will run every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, departing Rome Fiumicino at 10:00 and arriving in Tel Aviv at 14:20. Meanwhile, flights from Israel depart at 15:20 and arrive in Italy at 18:05.
From 31 March, and for the entire 2024 summer season, flights from Rome will depart 50 minutes earlier at 9:10 and arrive in Tel Aviv at 13:30. Return flights from Israel will also depart earlier at 14:30 and land in Rome at 17:15. According to the carrier, this flight schedule offers “good transfer connections” from Israel to the carrier’s intercontinental destinations via its Fiumicino hub.
Like many European airlines, ITA Airways suspended flights to Tel Aviv when war broke out between Israel and terrorist group Hamas in early October. Several carriers have since restored services to Israel, including Lufthansa Group’s airlines and Air France, while UK carrier British Airways plans to restart flights from April.
