There is a hotel in Salatiga, Central Java, said to be the thinnest hotel in Indonesia. How could it not be, the Pitu Rooms hotel looks towering because the building is only 2.8 meters wide.

The hotel is located on Jalan Sukowati No. 33, close to Pancasila Square, Salatiga. Even though there is no hotel sign in front of it, residents passing by can easily find Pitu Rooms because of its unique shape.

The hotel is only 2.8 meters wide, 9.5 meters long and 17 meters high. The building looks towering with the majority of the wood brown.

It’s hard to imagine the building is a hotel if you only look at it from the front. The identity of the building is only visible on one side of the building with the words ‘PITU’.

In front of it there is a sign for Ngopo Ngopi Cafe, which makes it look more like a cafe. Moreover, the arrangement of tables and chairs and a sink in front of it, without a reception desk, the front area would just look like an ordinary cafe.

“It seems that this has been named the thinnest hotel in Indonesia. If it is number two in the world, the first is in Germany but there is only one room there,” said Pitu Rooms Supervisor, Oktaviani Rosita when met detikJatengThursday (21/3/2024).

The thinnest hotel in question is the Eh’Haeusl which is in Amberg, Germany. The hotel is 40 centimeters thinner than Pitu Rooms.

Even so, Eh’Haeusl is more like a house turned into a hotel with a maximum capacity of two guests. Much different from Pitu Rooms which has 7 floors with 7 rooms, a restaurant and a cafe.

“Here, it is recommended that only two people per room be used, for children under five years old it is still allowed, but if you are over five years old, it is recommended to order an additional room,” he explained.
