Punjab: 271 Travel Agents Found Illegal, Drive Till Sept: Minister | Chandigarh News

Chandigarh: Punjab NRI affairs minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Wednesday said checking of travel agents and travel agencies in the state would be completed by September 10.
After a review meeting, Dhaliwal said verification of licenses and other necessary approvals was ongoing in all districts. He said so far the information related to 7,179 travel agents, agencies, and offices had been collected, of which 3,547 had been checked by district teams.
He said during the exercise, 271 organizations were found to be illegal and FIRs had been registered against 25 organizations.He said out of the total 609 complaints received during the NRI meet, 588 had been resolved and the remaining 21 cases were under process.
“The Punjab government is committed to resolving the complaints of the NRI Punjabis and other various matters on priority basis. The SDM-cum-nodal officers posted in various districts have been ordered to complete the checking of travel agents, agencies, and offices functioning in their districts by September 10. The agencies which are willing to work as per the prescribed conditions will be given an opportunity to fulfill the prescribed conditions,” said Dhaliwal.
The minister also instructed the nodal officers posted in the districts to ensure that all cases related to the NRIs sent to them by the department should be dealt with on priority basis.
